More About Jase Alan (they/them)

Jase Alan is a Trans/Non-Binary Actor, Writer & Community Builder. After years away from the industry Jase is honored to be part of the Actnow Community, first as a student, then Director of Operations, and now as an Instructor.

Originally from Kansas where they found my love of entertaining early in life by way trauma response (you can laugh), they now embrace this as a super power. Growing up in a small rural area Jase learned, very quickly, the power of community & escape.

Jase has since moved across the country a couple times. First to Long Beach where they earned their BA in Theatre Arts, emphasis in Performance & Directing, studying under Orlando Pabatoy, Alexandra Billings, Jeff Perry and more. Then to Brooklyn where they became a staple & innovator in Nightlife through their work as Drag Artist, Lady Bearica Andrews (@theladybearica), Producer & founder of the collective The Nobodies (@thenobodiesnyc). It was in Brooklyn that Jase started to foster community of their own.

Their work has been featured at Outfest & LA Shorts Fest. Look out for their feature debut later this year in A Cell Phone Movie & That Friend featuring Harvey Guillen, Billie Lourd & Josh Brener.

After joining the Sunday Scene Study class in December 2022, they soon found themself immersed & quite obsessed with the community that naturally develops out of Actnow. They soon insisted on volunteering as Class Assistant, helping to grow & organize our offerings. They are currently the Director of Operations & Education at actNOW LA, LA’s only Trans-Led & all Queer Acting & Creative Arts Studio where their desire is to build a diverse, equitable & sustainable creative community of Trans & Queer artists.

Jase shares Rain Valdez’s vision for Rainbow Entertainment &  Actnow at large, imagining a creative, and thriving community of Queer Artists. A Safe Haven where we all feel comfortable challenging what we’ve been taught our whole lives. The Future is Queer!
